Scribbler's Highlight of the Week: Blake Griffin...And One, Son

So since I'll be sharing sonically-pleasant favorites once a week, I have to get on my Warner Wolf and "go to the videotape" as well.  Thus, the "Scribbler's Highlight of the Week" is born.  Usually, I'll feature a spectular sports play--mainly because I live vicariously through athletes since I'm probably the least athletically-inclined member of my father's side of the family for this generation--but don't be surprised if it's just something funny, swaggerific or just flat-out random as a mugg.  With that said, on to the inaugural feature...

Now I must admit that I haven't really been into the NBA as much as when Michael Jordan was still playing.  (I don't care if you were a Knicks fan during the Bulls' magnificent and unstoppable reign...the game of basketball was so much more entertaining when Phil Jackson, MJ & Company were winning championships--even though you knew it was a lock for them to win much like the Miami Heat this year.)  Furthermore, I've paid even less attention to what many call the new "Showtime" in Los Angeles in the Clippers, who used to be the laughing stock of the City of Angels.  However, when I see clips like this--albeit against the hapless Charlotte Bobcats--I might consider watching them some more.  First of all, Chris Paul's passing ability and court vision is largely unmatched among today's NBA players--much like Magic Johnson with the original "Showtime"--so his dish is the first reason this play makes the cut.  Second, and more important, Griffin gets the ball at pretty much the free throw line and takes off from darn near where he gets it, has Gerald Henderson "defending" him and gets fouled in the air, and still delivers an authoritative, one-handed dunk.  Yeah...how could this play not make it into the Highlight of the Week?  Some might argue that the 70-foot lob from Paul to Griffin in the same game could rival this clip, and it does.  However, if I had to choose one, this would be it--although the other play is a very close 2nd.  If you haven't seen it already, please enjoy it thoroughly; if you have, then don't act like you can't enjoy it again after SportsCenter showed it like 50 times already.
