At one point, I know y'all probably thought this series should be renamed "The WMATA Chronicles" because of my 31-years-and-counting obsession with D.C. Metro. However, as much children's programming as I've been exposed to over the past two years, maybe I should consider rebranding this "Memoirs of a Pitiful Big Kid". So remember my edition of "RANDOM THOUGHT ALERTS!!!" when my crazy brain connected Ramone aka Mr. "I Do What I Can" from PBS Kids' Peg + Cat to Project Pat's "Out There Part 2" skit from his Mista Don't Play - Everythangs Workin album? Welp, the ignorance has resurfaced once again. One morning when I was getting ready for work, PBS Kids' "Where in the World Is Hooper?" came on in between shows. After Hooper the Hamster gave all of his clues per the usual, asked the kids "can you guess where I am" and then said "you guessed it", you probably can deduce which popular "trap" song of the past two years came to mind..."B---h u guessed it...HWAH...u was right." So it's official: I can't watch PBS Kids without thinking about Project Pat, OG Maco and other ratchet rap songs. I mean, Hooper does moonlight as a fake-me-out DJ if that means anything at all regarding the connection in my mind between him and rap. (BTW, saying the words "fake-me-out" gave me an idea for a future random thought, but I digress.) Let's get on with the rest of this mess...

Scribbler's Rave & Favorite Five: Ninetysomething Days of Summer, #4 Summer of '93
Considering how meh the first half of the year was, 1993 improved exponentially in the second half. However, even with the ninth grade signaling a sea change in the social aspect of my academic career, no season was more enjoyable than the summer. Although it resembled the summer of '87 with good weather and great music--despite nothing holding a candle to The System's "Don't Disturb This Groove"--the 94 days of the summer of '93 involved more advancement of my strongest academic talents in fun and engaging ways, great field trips, pretty girls and exploration of my wacky teenage hormones. So to all of y'all who absolutely love the 90s, get ready to take a trip down memory lane as we get into my No. 4 favorite summer of all time and the five things that made the summer of '93 so dope...

RANDOM THOUGHT ALERTS!!! (Vol. 1, No. 5)
Unintentionally, Mrs. Scribbler gave me the alley-oop for this week's intro as we were watching one of my favorite movies that surprisingly didn't make the "Tuesday Night at the Movies" cut, the perpetually-hilarious White Men Can't Jump. (Truth be told, I'm actually pretty salty with myself for excluding it because I'm always quoting it and I watch it every time it comes on TV, but I digress.) So one of my favorite parts is when Billy (Woody Harrelson) has to shoot his way back into girlfriend Gloria's (Rosie Perez) good graces after blowing his stack on a bet that he could defy the myth that...wait for it...White men can't jump. Sidney (Wesley Snipes) takes him to the b-ball court where his boy Robert (Cylk Cozart), who's a security guard on the lot where Jeopardy is shot, is willing to get her on the show if Billy makes a shot. When he assumes that he's shooting toward a much easier goal, Robert's partner-in-crime Zeke (Kevin Benton) stands up and says, "No, no, no, no, Billy boy, this is Ghana. You, my friend, are shooting for the Sudan." After the always-funny "and a hook shot", everyone on the court waits with baited breath as Billy does his best Sky Hook from long distance, hits the difficult shot, the crowd goes wild and it immediately cuts to the old school Jeopardy music--and the best version of it, I might add. Yeah, classic stuff right there. Now that I've inspired you to go watch White Men Can't Jump, try to hold off for a while and tough out another edition of "RANDOM THOUGHT ALERTS!!!" first...

Scribbler's Hot & Bothered Topic of the Week: Poopin' Where You Eat
Welp, I made it, dear friends. The big 5-0...post, that is. (PLEASE don't rush me getting older 'cause I never have and never will rush myself.) What better way to celebrate my 50th post than with a new post series?!?! [In my Cleveland Brown voice] HOOOORAAAAAY!!!! To break up some of the "monotony" regarding sports & entertainment, I have decided to do a series on something else on which I have a strong opinion and in which I have a decent amount of expertise: love, relationships and sex. Henceforth, "Scribbler's Hot & Bothered Topic of the Week" is birthed...
